Spinning colors (July 2011)

This is a favorite of Little Man’s so we do it often. We use tempera paint watered down enough to drip out of droppers. We have used food coloring and it makes very bright colors, tempera paints make more pastel…either way it is pretty 🙂  and he has fun learning his colors and what colors mix to make new ones.

Supplies:

Tempera paint watered down

or

Food coloring watered down

or

Water colors

Salad spinner

Medicine droppers

Paper cut to size for the spinner

Place paper in the spinner and drop a few drops of color on the paper, put the lid on, and spin!  We talked about centripetal force and how the color drops move because of it. Have fun with it!
