Fur, Feathers, and Scales at the Zoo ( 2013 )

Our local zoo has a program for schools call Fur, Feathers and Scales where they bring out a Chinchilla, Owl, and Snake for the kids to learn about and get to touch.

She brought out a Chinchilla, we learned that a Chinchilla does not take a bath with water like we do; the take dust baths. They have 60 hairs per follicle  and if they get wet they can mold due to having such thick fur.

She showed us how different feathers have different purposes.

Little Man got to help her show how long this snake skin is.

We got to pet a snake 🙂
